Students graduating from Western University find themselves with a strong advantage when it comes to securing employment and progressing further after their program ends. As such, 96 percent of Western graduates find themselves in employment soon after leaving the university.

Western University is also proud to offer the initiative to students, which engages students in developing and applying an innovative, business-centric mindset to their career progression. This initiative includes training courses, start-up and accelerator programs, networking events, workshops and other events to allow students to connect with like-minded individuals and potential employers.

There are also many opportunities to experience different cultures, develop intercultural skills and engage with international themes and topics right on campus. Throughout their time at Western, students can work toward earning the ‘Global and Intercultural Engagement Honour’, a designation that appears on their transcript upon graduation.

What’s new

International scholarships

In 2024, Western University announced new scholarships for international students. These include the Welcome to Canada Admission Scholarship worth CAD 10,000, and the International President’s Entrance Scholarship worth 100,000 CAD.

Infrastructure

The cutting-edge Ronald D. Schmeichel Building for Entrepreneurship and Innovation opened on-campus in fall 2024. This state-of-the-art building is open to any student in any program who is interested in inventing, making, growing, and sharing innovative ideas.

Student support

Western University has launched two new digital mental health supports for students: Togetherall and Wellness Navigator. These new applications are designed to help students manage their well-being remotely, while also directing them to access in-person resources when they need them.

Togetherall is a global peer-to-peer support service, monitored by trained therapists, which Western students can access for free. The platform creates a safe and inclusive environment for students to connect with others around the world, sharing similar experiences.

Wellness Navigator offers a confidential self-assessment for students to monitor their own mental health and well-being, and helps them navigate resources for support.
