What will I learn?

Box Hill Institute has been a leader in Australian contemporary music education since 1981, offering one of the most diverse and dynamic music programs in the country. This music course is designed to support emerging music professionals across all areas of the industry to be creative, work collaboratively, think innovatively, create content, generate income, and forge their own pathway into industry. In the composition major you will learn skills in contemporary composition, composing for media and popular music, and using music software you will have your compositions recorded by professional performers and you will create a portfolio of work to launch your career in the music industry.

Entry requirements

For international students

International students must have completed an Australian Year 12 or international equivalent with a pass.

PLEASE NOTE: Box Hill Institute only accept enrolments from international students who are 18 years of age or above at the time of course commencement.

A minimum IELTS overall score of 6.0 (Academic) with no band less than 5.5. A minimum TOEFL score of 550 for paper examination; 213 for computer based and 79 for internet based, or approved equivalent.
