What will I learn?

The Graduate Diploma in Design is a professionally relevant one-year program featuring eight courses from the Master of Design. You will learn about design as processes, design practice and history, gaining an understanding of design communication and research.You will also take three courses from other areas of practice and studio electives including Spatial Experiences, Interaction Design and UX Experience, Visualisation and Visual Effects, Future Making, Graphic Communication, Planar Practices and Temporal and Spatial Practices.Anyone who wishes to extend their professional qualifications with a shorter period of study will benefit from this program, as well as those intending to broaden or change direction in their design and media practice.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to the Graduate Diploma in Design requires a Bachelors degree in any field, conferred within the last 10 years, or a Graduate Certificate in Design. Applicants who apply with a bachelors degree completed more than 10 years ago can be admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Design where they have 5 or more years professional experience in a design or media-related field since graduation. They can articulate up to the Graduate Diploma if they hold a credit average in their courses taken under the Graduate Certificate. Applicants without a Bachelors degree may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director, on the basis of a Portfolio of work and professional experience. The student may articulate up to the Graduate Diploma if they hold a credit average in their courses taken under the Graduate Certificate.

English Language Requirements:

IELTS: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL IBT (Internet Based): 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking); Pearson (PTE - Academic): 64 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); C1 Advanced Cambridge: 176 overall (min. 169 in each subtest); C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 180 overall (min. 180 in each subtest); UNSW Global University English Entry Course (UEEC): Successful completion with a minimum overall grade of C+ and a minimum grade of C in the writing component.
