What will I learn?

Smart plugs, smart lights, security systems, health monitors, pet feeders and even toothbrushes are all examples of Internet of Things technology – physical objects that feature an IP address for internet connectivity. Such connected smart objects, platforms and environments have been identified as the next big technology development that will enable changes to society and economic growth. The Internet of Things will become an inherent part of areas such as electricity, transportation, retail, energy management, resource control and management, healthcare and mining.In the Internet of Things specialisation, youll address challenges arising from the interconnection of the Internet and everyday devices by applying advanced and applied knowledge of the design, configuration and management of IoT systems, and communication services and networking, Youll become an expert in networking technologies and protocols, security, hardware, operating systems and application programming and youll get hands-on experience in industry-recognised development methodologies, practices and tools.

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in information technology or recognised equivalent and a WAM of 65 OR

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent, and a minimum of two years relevant approved work experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning

English language requirements

  • IELTS Academic - IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent
  • TOEFL iBT - 83 (Reading - 13; Writing - 21; Listening - 12; Speaking - 18)
  • PTE Academic - 58 minimum 52 in each band, or equivalent
  • Cambridge English (C1A or C2P) - 180 minimum 169 in each band, or equivalent
