What will I learn?

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree is undertaken as a supervised program of original research. It is suited to those with some research training and experience, but who do not meet the eligibility criteria for direct entry into the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The depth of research required for a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is less than that required for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). In some cases, it is possible to use the Master of Philosophy as a pathway to upgrade to a Doctor of Philosophy.The Master of Philosophy is completed within a minimum period of 1 year full-time and a maximum period of 2 years full-time, or the part-time equivalent.2 years

Entry requirements

For international students

Western Sydney University must be satisfied that you have the skills and experience to commence independent study at a suitable level for entry into this program.

To be eligible for admission, you must have previously completed at least one of the following qualifications:

Bachelor (Honours Class 1 or Class 2) degree;

Master of Research degree;

Qualifications from a university or other tertiary institution equivalent to the above.

English Language Requirements:

IELTS: 6.5 overall score (min 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL internet-based score of 82: Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50.
