What will I learn?

This qualification in civil and structural engineering design provides you with the skills and knowledge to work on various public infrastructure building projects such as roads, railways, buildings, water reservoirs, subdivisions, airports, bridges, sewer systems, tunnels, dams and other public works. You will study and gain skills in the design and construction of civil works.You will also learn several engineering drafting standards and receive exposure to computer-aided design (CAD) programs selected including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit and Microsoft Project. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed for the roles of senior civil works designer or para-professional designer who support professional engineers.Fast Track Option is also available of 52 weeks (1 Year) for this course.

Entry requirements

For international students

International students must be 18 years or above before commencement of study at NIT.

To meet the academic entry requirements, you must meet one of the following:

  • A minimum of Year 12 or equivalent qualification; or
  • Year 11 or equivalent plus either a minimum 1 year of relevant work experience or a relevant accredited or non-accredited course; or
  • Successful completion of Certificate IV level or a higher qualification

English Language Proficiency

  • Overall score of 5.5; not less than 5.0
  • An equivalent score in another English Language Proficiency Test acceptable by the National Institute of Technology:
  • TOEFL iBT:Overall 46; not less than 4 in listening and reading and not less than 14 in writing and speaking test
  • PTE Academic - Overall 42; not less than 36 in each test
  • C1 Advanced (CAE): 162; B2 First (First Certificate of English (FCE): 160
  • Occupational English Test: Grade B for each test component OR
  • An alternative English language proficiency evidence that is acceptable by National Institute of Technology.
