What will I learn?

Complete a degree that builds on your commitment to excellence in professional practice and your desire to contribute to the health and well-being of individuals, families, communities and society.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing prepares you for entry into direct practice and provides you with the skills you need to play a more advanced role in nursing leadership, education and research.

This rigorous degree program uses an integrated approach that focuses on knowledge, concepts and theories from nursing, the liberal arts and sciences. Your in-depth learning experience takes place in classrooms, clinics, labs and MacEwan's Clinical Simulation Centre.

Our curriculum is uniquely sequenced to promote integration and application of knowledge and diverse skills, such as relational and ethical practice, critical thinking and clinical judgement, risk and health assessment, health promotion, injury prevention and writing.

What to expect

Through discussion, debate, lecture, reflection, writing projects and application scenarios, you move from a basic understanding of foundational concepts in the first year of the program to more intensive knowledge and practical skills in your final year.

As you advance through the program, your understanding of the complexity and diversity of health and illness experience grows. You learn first about individual health, but then focus on the interconnected health scenarios of individuals, family, groups, populations and communities at all stages. Theory is integrated with practical experience and courses are sequenced so that one year builds on the next, making it important to take courses in their recommended order.

You have up to six years to complete the program.
