Transform lives in the communities where you live and work. This degree builds on your previous two years of post-secondary education, preparing you to become a registered social worker.
Our unique Bachelor of Social Work focuses on the ways social, environmental and economic issues interrelate, and how we all fit into the larger community. Sustainability and social work practice with Indigenous peoples are core to our program. You develop professional practice skills through practicum placements. Upon graduation, you are prepared to work in a diverse range of health, mental health, child and family, community and human service settings.
Graduates of accredited Alberta social work diploma programs, and students who have completed 60 university-level credits and are looking to extend their professional education, enter into the third year of the Bachelor of Social Work at MacEwan University.
Your program of study varies depending on the course work you have completed prior to entry. You follow a post-diploma or university transfer route. All students take courses focusing on social, environmental and economic sustainability, participate in a field practicum and develop expertise in a field of practice.
