What will I learn?

The Department of Psychology at the University of Guelph offers a unique program in Applied Social Psychology designed to prepare students for research careers in a wide range of applied and academic settings. Our program has a strong social justice orientation and is best suited to students who wish to investigate social processes and problems, in areas that include: health and illness, gender, violence, prejudice, inequality, cooperation, culture, immigration, intergroup relations, science and technology.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have

  • Honours BA/BSc (or equivalent) in Psychology or affiliated field, with a minimum B+ average
  • Senior honours thesis or research project equivalent
  • Intention to proceed to PhD
  • GRE General Test for MA application
  • GRE Psychology Test recommended for international and non-psychology applicants

Canadian Academic English Language Test (CAEL) - 70

International English Language Testing System (Academic) (IELTS) - 6.5

Duolingo English Test (DET) - 120

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE-A) Note: A minimum score of 60 must be achieved in each individual component - 60

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT)) Note: A minimum score of 21 must be achieved in each of the four categories (listening, speaking, reading, writing) – 89
