Become a professional makeup artist

Sheridan's constantly evolving Makeup for Media and Creative Arts diploma program has helped countless artists launch their careers in makeup artistry. In this program, you'll gain the skills you need to be a successful makeup artist, and the experience you need to succeed in a variety of roles. Immerse yourself in classes where you'll learn how to use the latest products to create classic, trendy, historical and character looks, to name a few. You'll be encouraged to experiment using a range of applications and focal points. You'll also gain a strong understanding of marketing and industry trends and learn how to push the envelope in the looks you create. Learn to apply advanced makeup artistry techniques

Set yourself up for a successful career as a makeup artist with hands-on experience in the following areas:

Applying makeup to live models (special event, historical and period, drag, special effects and more)

Executing fashion and editorial makeup for photography

Drawing and rendering theatrical makeup

Creating character designs

Applying and designing prosthetics

Learn from instructors with industry experience

All faculty in this program come to our classrooms with recent and relevant industry experience. Each instructor has a successful career in the beauty industry and is ready to share everything they know with you. Our instructors are diverse and well-rounded and support an inclusive environment for all who wish to pursue a career in the professional makeup industry. Get professional experience through a field placement

In the second year of this program, you'll participate in a 40-hour field placement where you can use your newly acquired professional makeup skills in an industry setting. Your placement will be assigned based on your specific career interests. This invaluable work experience and exposure to professionals in the field can launch you into your career.

Graduates of Sheridan's two-year Makeup for Media and Creative Arts program go on to have successful careers in film and television, commercial marketing and advertising, theatre and performing arts, fashion and editorial and many other areas.

Entry requirements

For international students

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses:

One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U) or

Mature student status.

English Proficiency Requirements

IELTS - overall score 6.0 with no individual band below 5.5

TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and TOEFL iBT Home Edition (DI Code: 9117) - overall score 80 with no individual section below 20

iTEP Academic - overall score 3.7

PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) online or in person - overall score 58 with no individual section below 49

Duolingo English Language Test - overall score of 105 with no individual subscore lower than 85

Cambridge English Test Exams (B2 First/C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency score) - overall Cambridge English Scale score 169 with no individual score below 162

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) online or in person - overall score 60 with no individual section below 50

Sheridan EPA test - Listening Band - 4.0 Reading Combined Band - 4.0 Writing - CLB 7

Sheridan's ESL program EAP level - A minimum score of 70% in listening and speaking and 70% in reading and writing. General Education courses and Navigating Digital Environments (INFO) minimum required grade of 50%.
