What will I learn?

Boost your CV by studying abroad; graduate with a double degree from two internationally acclaimed universities; spend one year abroad, and gain a unique specialization in Innovative Sustainable Energy Engineering.

Innovative Sustainable Energy Engineering’ is a Nordic Five Tech (N5T) programme. This means that you get to study at two out of five of the most prominent Nordic universities: Aalto University School of Science in Finland, Technical University of Denmark, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, or Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.

The programme provides a state-of-the- art education in the fields of conventional and renewable energy sources like power generation, solar energy, biomass energy, wind power, geothermal power, and energy utilization in the built environment by means of economically and environmentally sustainable systems and technologies. As a student you will learn to apply advanced methods are to identify, describe, quantify and find solutions to a diverse range of energy engineering problems.

Students will gain proficiency in energy technology fundamentals, energy project procurement and implementation, conventional and renewable energy conversion technologies, environmental protection issues, as well as in crucial phases of policy generation.

The participating universities in this programme are world-leading in research and education within the field of renewable energy. The Nordic region is guiding the world to develop innovative and sustainable energy solutions as new and renewable energy concepts are being implemented into the Nordic societies.

Focus

The term ‘sustainable energy engineering’ comprises a wide array of practices, policies and technologies (conventional and renewable/alternative) aimed at providing energy at the least financial, environmental and social cost.

The programme place a strong emphasis on dealing with energy engineering tasks with due consideration of technical, environmental and socio-economic issues. Another strong emphasize is put on the Innovative and Entrepreneurial aspects of the energy society, especially related to how existing and new efficiency improvement innovations can be brought to the market in different countries.

Specialization

There are six study tracks in the programme. Depending of your area of interest and your background, you can choose between the following study tracks:

  • Bio Energy
  • Energy Systems
  • Heat and Power Engineering
  • Solar Cell Systems and Materials
  • System Integration of Wind Power

Studying abroad jump-starts your career as employers are always looking for graduates with an international outlook and intercultural competencies. Your work tasks can be energy engineering related, in energy counseling or several others. You will be able to make key decisions which can contribute to solve climate problems.

Entry requirements

For international students

The academic levels of the MSc Programmes are highly advanced, and a thorough basic knowledge of one engineering or science discipline related to the MSc programme is required for admission. Admission is based on the following criteria: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering or a Bachelor of Natural Science degree obtained at an internationally recognized university

IELTS - 6.5, TOEFL internet-based - 88, C1 Advanced / Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) - 180, Danish High School - English level B: Passed.
