Why is Creative Computing important?

Ireland's globally recognised digital and creative economy has experienced significant growth in recent years. Enterprise Ireland aims to expand even further the export footprint of this growing sector, and skilled workers are required to do this. Our graduates will be qualified to fulfill the needs of this sector and many others.

What is the BSc (Hons) in Creative Computing?

This is a four year course designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical experience of industry standard innovative tools and technologies, within the domains of technology and creative media. The course is primarily a computing course specialising in creative media, with approximately 60% computing content and 40% creative media content. It is a very practical based course where students develop skills through a strong emphasis on project work and continuous assessment. Graduates are highly employable allowing them to pursue a career in both the computing and creative media industry. If you would like to study a Computer Science Course and you also like Creative Media, this might be the course for you!

Subject Areas

Students study core computing subject areas, such as Web and Mobile Development, Computer Science and Databases, with creative subject areas such as UX (User Experience) Design, Graphic Design, Animation and Media Production.

Industry Placement

Students can choose the option of Industry Placement during Flexible Semester in year 3. This allows academic theory to be put into practice while gaining valuable insights into working life. Industry Placement enhances employability and kick-starts the creation of a network of potential contacts for future careers. Along with Industry Placement, there are a number of alternative options available during Flexible Semester.

For international students

You should be at least 17 years of age in January of the year of entry.

You must have a Secondary/High School Diploma, with good grades in English and Mathematics and at least 4 other subjects, on average + 60%.
