What will I learn?

Study design with us and well help you turn your creative ideas into reality. AUT's design degree responds to the changing nature of design careers by focusing on the connections between different design disciplines, the importance of mÄtauranga MÄori, and new and emergent technologies.Youll become familiar with the growing ethical and moral responsibilities of design professionals, and will be ready to use your design skills to create a better future. You'll have access to outstanding facilities and industry connections, and may also have the opportunity to exhibit your work at the AUT Art & Design Festival.Interaction design is the art and science of creating intuitive interactions between humans and digital products, systems or services with an emphasis on usability, user experience and human-centred design principles.Interaction design covers design for digital web platforms (desktop, mobile and other devices), app design and product interface design. It can also include design for information systems, wayfinding and navigation, digital dashboards and controls, as well as wearable technologies, augmented and virtual spaces.Youll access our outstanding facilities and work individually and in teams on a variety of design projects to combine knowledge of human-centred frameworks, complex problem solving and visual systems to create design solutions to current and future challenges.

Entry requirements

For international students

All applicants need to meet AUTs minimum entry requirements qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 13 and Portfolio of art work.

Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 80; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with B/B+ grade; AUT Academic English with B grade; CAE minimum overall score of 169; PTE minimum overall score of 50.
