As well as a strong grounding in analytical, technical and theoretical concepts this degree also uses hands-on practical methods and teaches important people skills like communication and management skills. At the culmination of this programme youll be able to do a real-world project where you can apply your skills in the workplace.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must meet the following criteria for admission into the programme:

  • successfully completed at least 42 NCEA (or equivalent) credits at Level 3 (including 14 credits in each of two subjects from the NZQA Approved Subjects for University Entrance list); and 8 credits in NCEA English Level 2 (four in reading and four in writing from the NZQA Literacy Requirements for University Entrance list) (or equivalent); and 8 credits in NCEA Mathematics (or Pangarau) Level 2 (or equivalent); or
  • successfully completed at least 72 credits at NCEA (or equivalent) Level 2 including a minimum of 14 credits in each of two subjects and including 8 credits in each of reading/writing and mathematics and
  • including 30 credits achieved at Merit or Excellence; or
  • have at least 60 NZQA recognised credits at Level 5 or higher; or
  • provide evidence of equivalence through practical, professional or educational experience e.g. three–five years full-time work experience (relevant to ICT) they can apply for entry. Evidence of literacy and numeracy will be required. MIT literacy and numeracy assessments are available.
  • IELTS test: Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5; TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18); Cambridge English Examinations: B2 First, or B2 First for schools, or C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill; Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42.
