What will I learn?

The MChem is a 180-point postgraduate programme designed to grow your expertise in analytical chemistry or materials science. Chemistry is at the foundation of the modern world. Everything that we eat, use and wear is made possible through modern chemistry. This degree will offer the students the possibility to further their chemistry knowledge and learn from experts in the field. The specialisations in analytical chemistry and materials science focus on real world applications of chemistry. The specialisations are designed to equip students with skills that will allow them to both progress their research study and that will make them job-ready.

Entry requirements

For international students

Taught180 points: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in a relevant subject. You need GPE 4.0.

IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and bands less than 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
