What will I learn?

UC's Master of Mathematical Sciences (MMathSci) offers flexible study to upskill in mathematics, data, and statistics. Through project work you will demonstrate your capacity for independent thinking, and if achieved at an appropriate standard, this degree will also prepare you for entry into doctoral programmes.You will develop advanced analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills that will enable you to improve upon existing practices in the mathematical sciences, and position yourself as a future leader in your field of work.Studying this degree will give you adaptable skills to work with new and emerging technologies in the field, for example Big Data and artificial intelligence, and prepare you to become a part of advanced mathematics research in the industry.

Entry requirements

For international students

You will need to have completed a bachelor's degree in a subject relevant to mathematics (or other approved subjects), and have passed at least 60 points of your 300-level courses with at least a B grade average.

You may also enrol with other relevant qualifications of an equivalent standard, with approval.

Applicants must also satisfy our English language entry requirements:

  • IELTS (Academic): Minimum overall score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • TOEFL (IBT): Minimum overall score of 90, with a minimum score of 19 in Reading, Listening and Writing.
  • PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): Overall score of 58 and no communicative skills score below 50.
