What will I learn?

This course provides you with an opportunity to combine subjects from the School of Economics and School of Accounting and Finance, with the benefit of a year in industry.

The School of Accounting and Finance prepares you for a career in accounting and the financial markets through access to subjects accredited by professional accountancy bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Additionally, you will be prepared for a career as an economist, studying in a School of Economics run by world-leading experts.

You will spend your third year on a paid placement in an accounting firm or within an accounting position at a large organisation. Previously, students have secured roles at a range of accounting firms including PwC, Grant Thornton, Hazlewoods and Milsted Langdon. Additionally, you can work towards your professional accreditation with ICAEW.

You can also benefit from a range of specialist employability services provided by the faculty’s Professional Liaison Network, including a professional mentoring scheme with alumni, insight talks and internships.
