What will I learn?

BSc (Hons) Construction Project Management will give you the knowledge and skills required to meet the needs of employers of the ever-thriving built environment sector.

Youll gain comprehensive understanding of the core principles related to construction project management, including management of resources, scheduling of work, construction and production processes, and be able to mitigate constraints due to various factors such as environmental, financial, contractual, and issues related to health and safety in construction projects.

Youll develop new ideas and learn about the briefing, planning, delivery, and procurement of built assets. Youll also gain an awareness of the various regulatory requirements and the relationships that exist between other disciplines associated with construction.

This industry-focused degree will ensure you have the knowledge, leadership, and management skills necessary for the effective delivery of construction projects from inception to occupation.

Your learning will be informed by the expertise of our research-active construction professionals, civil and structural engineers, industry-leaders, and academics. Youll hear from several guest speakers from industry during the degree to engage further and build your professional network.

Our BSc (Hons) Construction Project Management programme is directly informed by the world class research carried out by Heriot-Watts Institute of Sustainable Built Environment (ISBE) which sits within the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS). EGIS is one of the United Kingdoms leading institutions for multidisciplinary research and teaching in areas critical to economic development and societal equity. The institutes academic team conduct high-value and high-impact research on fields covering sustainability, digital innovation, design, and management of the built environment. The research relevance of this undergraduate programme ensures your studies remain innovative and industry focused.

This School is also part of the Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Building Design, a leading body recognised by the Royal Academy of Engineering. The Centre is one of only four such centres established at United Kingdom universities that jointly form a national network to demonstrate and exchange best practice in teaching and research for the sustainable built environment.

For international students

Year 1: Standard entry requirements - Highers ABBB, A-Levels BCC – BBB, Int. Baccalaureate 28 points, BTEC MMM (in relevant subject), HNC C in graded unit (in a relevant subject area), Check that you meet our University-wide National 5/GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths requirements. Our minimum requirements will apply if you: live in an area within the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation lowest 20% (SIMD20), or are care experienced) - Highers BBBC, and A-Levels BCC - BBB. Year 2 –  Advanced Highers BC plus ABBB at Higher, A-Levels BBB, Int. Baccalaureate 33 points, HNC B in graded unit (in a relevant subject area), HND BC in graded units (in a relevant subject area), BTEC DMM (in relevant subject), Global College Successful completion of our Engineering with Accelerator Programme. Year 3 - HND BB in graded units (in a relevant subject area). The minimum English language requirement for entry to this programme is IELTS Academic 6.0 with no score lower than 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79 (including reading 18, listening 17, speaking 20, and writing 21).
