Why choose this course?

This course is delivered by the Emergency Management & Resilience Centre at the University of Wolverhampton and further information about all our courses including attendance patterns and other information.

Delivered as a hybrid mix of on-campus and live online delivery, this MSc course in Emergency Management & Resilience can be studied over 1, 2 or 3 Years to suit your requirements. This provides flexibility, especially for those already in full-time employment.

The course has a strong focus on UK multi-agency emergency management, whilst developing awareness of international incidents, policy and research which have relevant lessons, impact, or implications for the UK.

The course caters for professionals who may already be working in this field or those wishing to embark in such a career and who have transferable or existing knowledge and skills. Many of our existing students work in the emergency services, local authorities, NHS Trusts/Services, and other responder organisations. Some of these are managerial, some are front-line workers, and others are already working in emergency planning /management.

This is an opportunity for you to develop master’s level education in the concepts, theories and academic skills surrounding emergency management, emergency preparedness, societal resilience and recovery along with an understanding of how these are relevant, and can be applied, to current professional practice.

The programme is delivered by subject specialists who have practical experience of delivering Emergency Management within Category 1 responder organisations and are involved in advisory roles and research within emergency management locally, regionally, and nationally. Course tutors also participate in national communities of practice and engage with Local Resilience Forums to develop and share expertise across the UK.
