What will I learn?

Develop your art practice in a supportive, collegiate and nurturing environment, thanks to our student-centered approach to research, learning and teaching.

This course embraces all forms of art practice and celebrates the inherent diversity in each student cohort, including:

  • sculpture
  • painting
  • photography
  • drawing
  • printmaking
  • audio and video
  • performance
  • installation
  • work in the public domain

You’ll have the opportunity work across the traditionally medium?defined boundaries imposed by many fine art programmes. In this highly interdisciplinary course we encourage interaction between disciplines by exploring visual knowledge and expression across a range of platforms.

Throughout the course you’ll build upon and develop practical making and research skills to explore current attitudes and phenomena in the context of contemporary art practice. Through lively debates, both in physical and digital communities, you’ll strengthen your ability to self?evaluate, through reflective practice and cumulative progression.

Careers

On completion of this course graduates will be further equipped to continue to develop their personal practice as successful independent artists or develop careers in the creative industries or within the emerging sectors of public engagement including:

  • Supporting local or international communities through art and design
  • Working as an Arts Organiser or as a Practicing Artist to arrange or curate events
  • Working within galleries, museums and the tourism or heritage sectors
  • Within the creative industries as Designers or Artists

Additionally, the critical thinking, self-reflection organisational skills and professional development that can be developed through a masters level qualification will enhance the student’s employability across a broad range of careers and sectors that may not be specific to the arts.
