What will I learn?

International Business is about learning worldwide business knowledge. Many business principles and practises are common across the world and our degrees will help you understand what these are and why they have been adopted internationally. We will also give you an understanding of how these business principles and practises vary in different countries, helping to prepare you for your business career.

Whether your first degree is in Business, or another subject, this course will help you understand why different processes and decisions are made by international businesses. This will be taught across a wide range of modules, including areas such as international business strategy, international trade, human resource management practises, management practises/principles, international marketing, and much more.

In addition to our standard MSc International Business, we also offer you the opportunity to focus on a specific topic in combination with International Business. For example, you could select a degree in International Business and Entrepreneurship or International Business, Banking and Finance, or International Business and Marketing.

International Business and Management MSc: This degree option allows you to focus on the study of management. Alongside the core international business modules, you will study cross-cultural management, managing people in general and organisations. Management skills are required in most business roles, whether you are already managing teams, resources, projects or whether you aspire to be a manager.

Careers:

The degree option you choose also helps indicate to employers the area you have the most interest in, whether you are looking to progress in the management of people, business strategy, operations, finance or marketing/enterprise.

Graduates move into all sizes of business and across all sectors. Many have also launched their own businesses.

Our International Marketing graduates have recently gone on to work in areas including:

  • marketing manager, financial services
  • marketing & communications officer, energy industry
  • marketing manager, agency side
  • digital marketing officer, public sector
  • marketing consultant, own business

The wider skills you develop will also support your career development. Such things as strong presentation skills, an entrepreneurial flair, negotiating skills and a forward thinking approach are important in business.
