Course description

Studying a Postgraduate Certificate in Interprofessional Practice Education will:?

  • Foster your skills in relation to the learning, teaching and assessing of students?
  • Engage your passion and expertise as you study Â鶹ԭ´´ other health professionals
  • Develop your knowledge and teaching skills across many contexts, from higher education to clinical practice, so you can have the skills you'll need to enhance your career.

If you are a professional in health and social care, with a teaching aspect to your role and you’re keen to develop your skills and knowledge in education within your practice setting, then this course will help you to be at the forefront of professional practice education. Your current workplace will be the focus of your learning, so before you can study this course, you'll need to be able to facilitate learning in your practice environment and have the full support from your employer. You will also need the support of a Practice Education Facilitator within your working environment, who will sign off the evidence and hours provided toward meeting the programme requirements. The course is approved by AdvanceHE, formerly the Higher Education Academy (HEA) as meeting the UK professional standards framework for teaching and supporting learning, so you can be sure that what you learn is up-to-date and relevant. You will be eligible to apply for associate or fellowship of AdvanceHE when you graduate from the course. You will benefit from learning Â鶹ԭ´´ a range of health professionals to help you to develop the professional, academic, and personal skills needed in educational practice.

When you graduate you'll be able to effectively co-ordinate and organise a range of learning activities within practice learning environments or academic environments. You'll also be able to support interprofessional learning and working in the context of modern healthcare whilst your experience on the course will open up a range of opportunities for employment as a clinical educator or within higher education institutions.

The course duration is 1 or 2 years Part time.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students need to have an existing professional qualification and evidence of level 6 study in an aspect of health care and social care, such as nursing, radiography, social work or occupational therapy. We will also consider your application if you have experience of working in a relevant field. If English is not your first language you must have an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all areas (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and TOEFL: 83 (with minimum levels of 18 reading, 19 listening, 23 writing and 19 speaking).
