What will I learn?

COURSE OVERVIEW

Specialise in the technical aspects of the design, construction and performance of buildings and discover how you can shape the built environment around you. This course will give you the flexibility to do just that, at a time and pace convenient for you.

As part of your course you’ll:

Study the latest international practices in architectural technology to inform your learning
Explore construction technology, construction law and building regulations, enabling you to create comprehensive specifications for proposed design projects
Produce a portfolio of work that highlights your skills and knowledge as an architectural technologist

You’ll have the opportunity to tailor your study to your career ambitions and personal interests as you focus on several projects throughout this flexible course. You could choose to explore commercial properties, residential buildings or any structures of particular interest to you.

We’ll help you engage with the creative and technical aspects of the building industry, and you’ll have access to specialist software, including Revit, Photoshop and InDesign.

TEACHING & LEARNING

Independent study is a crucial part of learning at university and you will be required to undertake many hours of self-directed research and reading, and preparation and writing of assessments. Your course is delivered through a number of modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. Outside of your lectures, workshops and tutorials, a range of support is available to assist with your independent study. Our subject-specific librarians will be on hand to direct you to the specialist learning and study-skill resources. You’ll also be assigned an academic advisor to give you tailored feedback and support.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional. IELTS 6.5 with no skill below 5.5, TOEFL iBT Total of 79 to 89 minimum for Reading (18), Listening (17), Speaking (20) and Writing (17). The minimum English language requirement for entry to study taught postgraduate qualification at Leeds Beckett are English language GCSE grade 4 or above.
