What will I learn?

Introduction

Our full-time MSc Clinical Nursing course is designed for registered international nurses who are working in a range of roles and settings in the fast-changing world of health service provision. Meanwhile, the part-time course is ideal for UK registered nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and working in a healthcare trust. Whether you want to focus on a particular clinical specialty or are still deciding on a clinical pathway, this postgraduate course in Chelmsford is a great way to broaden your career prospects.

ARU’s MSc Clinical Nursing features an extensive range of optional modules to choose from. These will help you to develop your existing skillset and deepen your knowledge of contemporary issues in healthcare both in the UK and internationally. These practitioner-led optional modules foster innovation, research and creativity, and will enable you to influence service delivery and effect change in your own areas of clinical practice. You’ll also explore leadership and management in healthcare. You’ll be able to assess the roles that leaders and managers play and apply the principles and techniques of leadership and management in a range of organisational contexts. Studying this Masters degree will support your continuing professional development and professional revalidation and give you opportunities to challenge and critically evaluate your performance as a nurse.

How you'll be assessed

Assessments vary from module to module and will include essays, online activities, portfolios of evidence of work-based learning, OSCEs, competency frameworks for practice learning, viva voce, unseen examinations and posters. We’ve designed our assessments to give you freedom to explore your own areas of interest and develop specialist knowledge and skills in your practice. The appointment of a mentor in practice ensures that you are assessed suitably throughout the course.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students need to have a first degree, with honours, at a minimum final classification of Lower Second (2:2) or equivalent. A minimum period of one year working as a nurse with relevant registration, and a reference from your employer. Students will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognized by Anglia Ruskin University. TOEFL iBT with 88 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
