What will I learn?

Overview

Do you want to gain a better understanding of public health? Are you keen to understand how you can improve the public health issues in your sector? Then our short online Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health could be the starting point you are looking for.

Through our course youll be able to learn how to assess the health needs of your own workplace. Youll also be able to develop skills in priority setting and understand the theory and evidence of promoting public health.

If you are looking to study a qualification that will help your progress in your chosen career then this course will develop your knowledge and skills to progress.

Throughout this course, youll explore a broad range of topics including:

  • contemporary models and strategies to guide the design of effective health promotion activities
  • public health challenges of interest facing the global population
  • process of and application of techniques for population health needs assessment

Upon completion of your PG Cert Public Health,?we offer the opportunity for you to progress on to study for a PG Dip?Public Health (120 credits) or a Master of?Public Health (MPH) (180 credits).

Teaching methods

Studying online gives you the freedom to study when and where it suits you – at home, during your lunch hour or anywhere else you have internet access.

Our courses are delivered through a virtual learning environment (VLE) instead of a traditional campus. This means you will have access to your study materials 24/7, including:

To ensure you receive the support you need from your tutor, we cap our class sizes at 20 students.

Assessment methods

Rather than fretting about exams, you will be assessed exclusively through assignments. This can be by engaging in discussion forums throughout your modules, completing reflective journal entries, or by submitting longer written pieces.

Entry requirements

For international students

In order to satisfy the work experience entry route requirements for our PG Cert Public Health, as a minimum you must have at least three years relevant work experience.  As our courses are delivered in English, a high proficiency with English is required. If English is not your first language, your English ability should be equivalent to an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5. TOEFL: 88 for postgraduate.
