Our public health research has a strong focus on healthcare and health improvement at the intersection of public health and primary care, directed to the challenge of reducing the burden of chronic non-communicable diseases. We combine specific expertise in musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and mental health with methodological strengths in prognosis research, use of electronic health record data and linkages, intervention development, process evaluation, pragmatic trials, and implementation.
Overview
We are proud members of the PHRESH Consortium of three leading universities in the West Midlands - Birmingham, Warwick, and Keele - providing a highly supportive public health research and training environment, as part of the NIHR School for Public Health Research.
Our public health research links to Keeles Institute for Global Health, whose focus is on research in partnership with low-income and middle-income countries, and to Keeles cross-sectoral Institute for Social Inclusion.
At the core of all the School's research are patients and the community, and we have a Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) team who support and develop all PPIE activities for the School.
