What will I learn?

Contemporary issues and challenges in global public health have seen an increased demand for those working within public health to develop a deeper understanding of the wider social determinants of health and public health systems. If you enjoy learning about core principles and practices that underpin the promotion of health in society, prevention of illness and how to support positive health and wellbeing, this may be the perfect fit for you.

The MSc in Public Health provides you with a comprehensive underpinning of the policy and practice underpinning public health, such as multi agency working across different sectors and the underlying causes of public health-related issues. The course will enable you to develop a sound understanding of public health policy and the knowledge and skills necessary to lead on and improve health outcomes. Here, you will be taught by lecturers with expertise in health psychology, nutrition, community specialist practice, leadership and a host of other areas, which will be vital in applying knowledge to practice and giving you the core competencies that you can apply to prospective employment.

The course is mapped to the PHKSF (Public Health and Knowledge Skills Framework) to ensure there is a clear focus and structure around the modules you study, as well as ensuring the course is focused upon those skills required when working in public health.
