Our MA Surface Pattern and Textiles (with optional Professional Placement) course will challenge you to experiment and innovate, and prepare yourself for a successful future career. Well encourage you to develop fresh ideas and methods as you explore pattern and decoration, reflecting on the social, cultural and aesthetic context for surface pattern design and textiles in the 21st century. Youll explore new technologies, experimenting and innovating as you progress through the course, forging a unique path towards your future career. Youll get to research and experiment with traditional techniques and new technology to create innovative textiles and surface pattern designs for a range of materials including ceramics, plastics and paper. You can also choose to focus purely on textile surfaces, embellishment, print and decoration. Using our cutting-edge digital equipment, youll get the chance to develop designs for wallpaper, tableware, floor coverings, interior products, stationery, giftware, garments and jewellery. Well help you to find your own creative process and develop your own direction and style.

For international students
Applicants should hold a 2:2 degree or equivalent professional experience or learning in a related field. Applications from all candidates will be considered on their merits in the light of the nature and scope of the programme. IELTS: Score of 6.5 or above. TOEFL iBT including Home Edition 86, with minimum grades of: Reading 15, Listening 15, Speaking 18, and Writing 22.
