Associate in Arts for Transfer in Studio Arts

What will I learn?

Students completing this associate degree will have completed lower-division major preparation requirements for a studio arts degree, an emphasis or option within a studio arts degree or a degree considered similar to a studio arts at a participating California State University (CSU) campus. Following transfer to a participating CSU campus, students will be required to complete no more than 60 units to obtain a bachelors degree however some CSU campuses may require additional lower-division major preparation. This degree may not be appropriate preparation for students transferring to a non-participating CSU campus or to a university or campus that is not part of the CSU system. Students should consult with a Pierce counselor for further information regarding the most efficient pathway to transfer as studio arts major, and to determine which CSU campuses are participating in this program.

  • Identify major movements and/or artist working in drawing.
  • Convey ideas and concepts about artwork.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and mastery of design and color.
  • Possess knowledge and mastery of a variety of art making skills.
  • Identify major movements/ and or artists working in 3-D.
  • Identify and demonstrate knowledge of art objects and architecture from the Renaissance to Modern Periods.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have an academic record (transcripts) from secondary school/high school and all colleges and universities attended. A minimum cumulative 2.0 grade point average (GPA) or equivalent is required.
