The Physics B.A./B.S. w/6-12 Physical Science Certification is designed for students who wish to teach Physical Science at the middle or high school level. It provides a broad but rigorous background in the physics and chemistry needed by successful teachers, and includes an advanced physics education course designed specifically for majors in this program.
The physics and applied physics major curricula are designed for students pursuing careers as professional physicists or astrophysicists, or who wish to continue their studies at the graduate level in a number of technical areas including engineering, law, or medicine. These programs prepare students for industrial employment or other careers which utilize analytical or problem solving skills. Those wishing to teach physics at the secondary level may wish to enroll in the Broad field Science Major in Physics degree program. Interested in biophysics? Supplement your physics courses with electives drawn from biology and chemistry, and you will be a strong candidate for any biophysics graduate program.
