What will I learn?

Undergraduates in the Department of Theatre and Film at the University of Toledo in Ohio are prepared to work in all aspects of theatre. They learn about everything from box office administration to acting, directing, stage management and design.

UToledo’s School of Visual and Performing Arts encourages critical thinking. Theatre majors learn to conceive, develop and sell a production — marketable skills that get them jobs.

THEATRE BACHELOR'S DEGREE HIGHLIGHTS

Customize your classes. Have a special interest in drama therapy or building props? UToledo theatre faculty can help you create an independent study for credit or just for experience.
Nontraditional casting. UToledo’s theatre bachelor’s degree program is known for its color-blind casting. Everyone finds a home here.
A one-of-a-kind theatre administration program. UToledo is one of the few BA theatre programs to have a full-time faculty member who teaches sales, marketing and the business side of theatre.
Close attention from faculty. It’s one of the hallmarks of the Department of Theatre and Film — professors who know your name. Faculty helps theatre majors find internships and jobs, get into grad school or prep for auditions.
Financial support for travel. UToledo’s Theatre Department places high priority on students attending conferences and festivals. It helps pay their way to events like the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and the University Resident Theatre Association (URTA) auditions.
Community collaboration. Students earning a UToledo theatre bachelor’s degree work Â鶹ԭ´´ professionals in the local arts scene at The Toledo Repertoire Theatre, the Valentine Theatre, the Glacity Theatre Collective and other places.
State-of-the-art facilities. The UToledo Center for Performing Arts houses classrooms, theatres and labs where students design and create sets, props and costumes.

Entry requirements

For international students

You are considered a freshman if you are coming to UToledo directly from high school and have never attended university. If you took college courses while enrolled in high school, you are still considered a freshman.

English Language Proficiency: TOEFL internet-based: 71; TOEFL paper-based: 527; IELTS overall band: 6.0; PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic overall score: 48; Duolingo English Test: 105; iTEP Academic: 3.7.
