What will I learn?

The Studio Art program is designed to provide a broad art experience. The eight courses of the studio minor include Art History and classes selected from nine areas of specialization: ceramics, digital art, drawing, jewelry/metals, oil painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and watercolor. This program provides a cohesive artistic introduction to media, technical skills and conceptual skills.

Studio art at OSU is dedicated to excellence in all forms of art creation, research and education. Our department has a highly-active faculty who exhibit nationally and internationally, and whose scholarly work is consistently cited for its excellence. When you enroll in this major, you will have the opportunity to participate in student exhibitions, attend art field trips and discover and develop your own artistic expressions.

Entry requirements

For international students

High School GPA 3.0+ (based on a 4.0 scale) and English-language proficiency exam scores (one of the following): iBT TOEFL Internet-Based Score 61+; IELTS Academic Score 5.5+; PTE Academic Score 46+; iTEP Academic Score 3.5+, Duolingo English Test Score 95+.

Note: OSU will only accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) results from students beginning Fall 2024.

Application deadline: For applicants currently living in the U.S. - Fall: July 1, Spring: December 1 and Summer: May 1; For applicants not living in the U.S. - Fall: June 1, Spring: November 1 and Summer: March 1.
