What will I learn?

Share Your Love of Music

You can choose between programs for choral/general and instrumental music. Both qualify you for licensure for age three through grade 12 in Ohio and many other states. You’ll be well-prepared, with 100 hours of field experiences in urban, suburban, and rural schools before you student-teach.

Learn how to teach music from professors who have extensive classroom experience. Two tracks are available: one for choral/general music and one for instrumental music. Both qualify you for licensure for age three through grade 12 in Ohio. You’ll receive close mentoring and personal attention as you pursue your passion for music education.

Curriculum and Courses

Coursework includes one-on-one applied music lessons, ensemble performance, and courses in music theory and music history. Additionally, the curriculum includes courses designed to prepare you for a career as a teacher. Culminating experiences in the senior year include a solo recital and the student-teaching placement.

For international students

Completion of formal secondary education in a pre-university curriculum

Completion must include the awarding of a diploma or the issuance of a leaving certificate or matriculation certificate generally recognized as the educational qualification necessary for admission to higher studies.
