The University of Arizona's Family Studies & Human Development (FSHD) bachelor's program will launch you into a rewarding, people-focused career. Our major is ideal for students pursuing human services professions that improve individual and family life through counseling, health care, social programs, and education. In the FSHD program, you will explore topics like adolescence, child development, family relationships, mental health, counseling, youth programs, and more. LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Foundational Knowledge in FSHD; Broad knowledge of theories, issues, research findings, and their applications in family studies and human development.
- Statistics and Research Methods; Basic knowledge of and ability to apply statistical analysis procedures and research methods for the study of families and human development.
- Critical Thinking; Ability to critically analyze and evaluate theoretical perspectives and research findings in the field of family studies and human development.
- Written Communication; Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using style appropriate to the discipline.
- Oral Communication; Effective oral communication skills for a variety of audiences.
- Professional Ethics and Standards; Knowledge of ethical standards and professional practices in the field of family studies and human development and the ability to employ them effectively.
