The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) DNP specialty prepares nurses to provide healthcare to individuals and the family. Students will be prepared to manage a variety of conditions from episodic conditions (coughs, earaches, fevers, etc.) to chronic conditions (diabetes, hypertension, asthma, etc.) utilizing a holistic approach that evaluates all the current conditions for the patient to formulate a treatment plan. Applicants may enter the program as a post-BSN student or a post-master’s (in nursing) student. Graduates of the FNP specialty are prepared as advanced practice nurses and are eligible for Nurse Practitioner certification.
The College of Nursing at the University of Arizona offers a variety of programs at the graduate level. Programs are available for students pursuing a first degree in nursing, as well as students interested in advancing in the professional as leaders, advanced practice nurses, and nurse researchers.
