The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care (PNP-PC) role is to provide care to children from birth through young adult with an in-depth knowledge and experience in pediatric primary health care including well childcare and prevention/management of common pediatric acute illnesses and chronic conditions. PNP-PCs meet the specialized physiologic and psychological needs of children in the areas of health maintenance and promotion, and assessment and management of disease processes. Applicants may enter the program as a post-BSN student or a post-master’s (in nursing) student. Graduates of the PNP specialty are prepared as advanced practice nurses and are eligible for Nurse Practitioner certification.
The College of Nursing at the University of Arizona offers a variety of programs at the graduate level. Programs are available for students pursuing a first degree in nursing, as well as students interested in advancing in the professional as leaders, advanced practice nurses, and nurse researchers.
