What will I learn?

A Graduate Certificate of Public Management and Policy (GCPMP) can help professionals in the public sector advance their career, and can help students bolster their career prospects. The GCPMP is a 15-credit program that requires completion of at least 9 credits from a set of core courses. An additional 6 credits may be earned in other approved courses. GCPMP students are not required to designate a major professor and a Program of Study committee, because the Director of Graduate Education will approve course selection for each student.

Entry requirements

For students from Hong Kong

Iowa State requires a bachelor’s or higher degree from a regionally-accredited college or university prior to beginning graduate studies. International degrees must be comparable to a US bachelor’s degree or higher from a college or university regionally accredited/recognized by the Ministry of Education in that country. A minimum cumulative grade point average equivalent to at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B grade) is required for admission. The minimum scores accepted by the Graduate College are: Internet Based TOEFL (iBT): 79 TOEFL Paper (PBT): 550 IELTS: 6.5

For international students

Iowa State requires a bachelor’s or higher degree from a regionally-accredited college or university prior to beginning graduate studies.

International degrees must be comparable to a US bachelor’s degree or higher from a college or university regionally accredited/recognized by the Ministry of Education in that country.

A minimum cumulative grade point average equivalent to at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B grade) is required for admission.
