What will I learn?

Administered by the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Leading to the degree of bachelor of science.

Total credits required: 120. The human development and family studies curriculum prepare graduates to pursue careers in helping professions with employment opportunities in government, non-profit, and private agencies, as well as continue on to graduate studies programs. Students select an option within the major: child development and guidance; advocacy, administration, and policy; or health, well-being, and prevention.

Student Learning Outcomes

The following set of learning goals was established for the bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies (HD FS). Upon completion of the undergraduate degree in HDFS, students will:

Learning Objective 1: Demonstrate an understanding of the central concepts, research, and theories within the field. Learning Objective 2: Demonstrate professional development and self-reflection skills. Learning Objective 3: Demonstrate an ability to access and evaluate peer-reviewed research.

Entry requirements

For international students

Equivalent of a minimum 3.0 high school GPA on 4.0 scale. In addition to the requirement, students must meet the following minimum high school course requirements: 4 years of English or your native language; 3 years of science (including at least two years of laboratory science courses which emphasize elements of biology, chemistry, or physics); 3 years of math (including algebra and geometry); 2 years of social studies.

English Language Requirements:

TOEFL - Internet-Based TOEFL (IBT) score of 71 with a minimum score of 17 in both the Writing and Speaking sections and Paper-Based TOEFL (PBT) score of 530

IELTS - Overall band score of 6.0 with no sub score below 5.5

PTE - Score of 48
