With available concentrations in Athletic Management and Athletic Coaching, this dynamic program will equip you for leadership roles and grant you the credentials necessary to make your career goals a reality. Applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university. Graduates of this program receive a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Sport Management.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
The graduate-level Sport Management curriculum is comprehensive and convenient, consisting of 12 courses (36 credits). The interdisciplinary course of study explores management, law, marketing, education and research.
Students from both the Athletic Coaching and Athletic Management concentrations ground their study in professional core courses which explore research methods, psychology and educational philosophies. The Athletic Coaching concentration requirements consider the organization and administration of sport programs, sport in American culture, moral and ethical issues, event management and sports law. The Athletic Management concentration requirements feature similar sport-related courses, in addition to sport marketing and sport finance.
Students completing internships gain valuable career experience and contacts. Millersville University's excellent record of internship placement includes professional, collegiate and scholastic sport experience, as well as fitness and recreation placements. University advisors work closely with students to assure an appropriate internship experience that matches their career goals.
