New England Collegeâs Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program is a truly transformative learning experience for writers. The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) delivers a rigorous, individualized program, with three dynamic degree tracks: Fiction, Poetry, and DualâGenre.
The MFAâs academic model is studio/research: integrating substantial work in the academic study and creative production of literary art. Students are individually mentored by accomplished, awardâwinning faculty members who are among the most compelling writers in their genres, and who also are known for their excellence in teaching.

Additionally, New England Collegeâs MFA program is the first and only lowâresidency program to offer Graduate Teaching Assistantships, providing students opportunities to gain relevant teaching experience for future academic careers. Students also have opportunities for specialized study in areas such as translation, crossâgenre writing/hybrid forms, editing and publishing, new media, and performance.

Requirements
The Master of Fine Arts is a terminal degree in the field of Creative Writing, and it requires at least two years (four semesters/five campus residencies) of intensive fullâtime study and the completion of at least 64 credits for a singleâgenre degree or two and a half years (five semesters/six campus residencies) of intensive full time study and the completion of at least 80 credits for a dualâtrack degree.

Students must have completed equivalent to a U.S. bachelorâs degree. They are required to have minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, or a demonstrated ability (typically a combination of academic and professional achievement). In addition to this, international students should have obtained TOEFL with a score of 550 on paper based test, 213 on computer based test and PTE: 58.
