Pace’s MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program offers a unique, cutting-edge curriculum that provides you with the professional training required for the increasingly dynamic job market in the pharmaceutical biotech, biochemistry, and molecular biology fields.

A NATIONAL NETWORK OF SCIENTISTS

Program director Nigel Yarlett, PhD, has developed an affiliation of national and international collaborators, providing opportunities for research with other laboratories around the world.

Research is funded and supported by the National Institutes of Health, Drugs for Neglected Disease Initiative, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The program is supported by fully equipped laboratory facilities for biochemistry and molecular biology, including a new state-of-the-art DNA sequencing facility, pathogen-handling suite, HPLC coupled mass spectrophotometry, and advanced spectrophotometric analysis.

This degree can be completed in 12–18 months.

Set your sights abroad! Opportunity exists for taking all or part of the course at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. Additionally, students graduating from the MS program have the opportunity to continue into the PhD program at UTS.

The program offers the opportunity to pursue thesis research in the department of biology, chemistry, or Haskins Laboratories at Pace, in several departments at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, or internationally at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia.

CAREER OPTIONS

Medical Research Laboratories: All research and teaching laboratories are required to employ a graduate laboratory supervisor to oversee the facility.

Government Agencies: The National Institutes of Health, US Food and Drug Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, US Department of Agriculture, and individual state laboratories employ skilled personnel for basic research and analysis of food, drugs, air, water, wastes, and animal tissue samples.

Biotechnology: The field offers excellent career opportunities for people trained in the molecular life sciences, with opportunities across a spectrum of many industries.

Non-Traditional Careers: Biochemists and molecular biologists enjoy fulfilling careers in management, science policy, science writing, and medical illustration.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants to Pace University graduate degree and certificate programs must hold a bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree from an accredited college or university if postsecondary education was completed in the United States. Applicants who are currently in their senior year at an undergraduate institution may apply for admission, but acceptance will be contingent upon receipt of a final transcript indicating all senior year grades and receipt of the bachelor's degree. Applicants who have attended institutions outside of the U.S. must hold a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.

For Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 88, a minimum TOEFL Essentials score of 9.5, a minimum overall IELTS score of 7.0, a Pearson PTE academic score of 60, a minimum overall Duolingo score of 115, an ISE III Merit in Trinity Exam or a Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency score of 185 on Cambridge Exam is sufficient to demonstrate the required proficiency in English for admission directly into Pace University programs with the exception of Communication and Digital Media.
