What will I learn?

Mathematics plays a vital role in a well-rounded liberal arts education, particularly in today’s technology-driven era. Mathematicians are highly regarded for their logical thinking, precision, and analytical prowess, making them proficient problem solvers across various disciplines. Students pursuing a Mathematical Science major are presented with an array of diverse career paths to explore.

At Maryville, our mathematics curriculum encompasses both practical and theoretical aspects. In addition to fulfilling major requirements, students have the opportunity to tailor their coursework towards a specific field of interest within mathematics. Furthermore, our program offers an integrated data science minor, equipping students with the necessary skills for thriving in coding, machine learning, and other cutting-edge industries.

Prospective applicants should possess a strong foundation in mathematics. Completion of the mathematics program’s general education requirement is mandatory for all students, and the Retention & Advising Office oversees the administration of placement exams to ensure proper academic placement.
