What will I learn?

Keiser University's Associate of Science in Medical Assisting prepares students to perform various clinical tasks including taking clinical histories, measuring vital signs, assisting physicians with physical examinations, administering injections as directed by the physician, venipuncture, performing laboratory tests in accordance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and electrocardiograms (ECGs). In addition, students will learn clerical and administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and preparing insurance claims.

Program Objectives

The following objectives are designed to fulfill the mission of Keizer University

  • Develop the student's ability to perform various tasks such as clinical, administrative.
  • Prepare students with the professional skills necessary to be employed in the field of Medical Assistance.
  • Prepare students to take and pass the exam that will register them as Medical Assistants (RMA) given by the Association of American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Program Outline

To receive an Associate of Science degree in Healthcare, students must earn a total of 60 credit hours.

Entry requirements

For international students

  • Successful completion of a secondary school program that is equivalent to high school in the United States. (Official records must be evaluated by an approved educational evaluator service attesting that completion is equivalent to secondary school completed in the United States.)
  • Certification of financial ability to meet tuition and other necessary expenses.
  • If an applicant’s primary language is not English, the applicant must present a TOEFL score of 500 or higher on a paper-based examination, a score of 173 on a computer-based examination, an internet-based score (iBT) of 61, or an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher.
