While most college education programs are geared toward elementary students, UCM gives you an advantage in the career field by offering an undergraduate program focused on teaching middle and junior high students. We’ve been accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation longer than any other Missouri public institution and offer one of the largest stand-alone middle school programs in the state. We’ll help you understand the age group you wish to teach and give you a greater edge by providing instruction specific to becoming a business education teacher.

Coursework for your Middle School Business Teacher Education degree

Not only has our BSE program been nationally recognized by the Association of Middle Level Education (AMLE), but our Middle School Business Education program is also endorsed by the National Business Education Association (NBEA).

Courses specific to UCM’s Middle School Business Education concentration cover various aspects of business, including emerging technologies and business skills. These are taught by subject matter experts from the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies to provide you with a first-rate education in your chosen area of focus.

Unique learning opportunities in UCM’s Business Teacher degree program

Learn how to be a teacher in the best place possible: an actual middle school or junior high classroom. You’ll spend half of three semesters in the field, where you’ll work with a business education teacher and get constructive feedback on your teaching technique. You’ll also complete student teaching in your final semester. Together, these opportunities provide real-world experience you won’t find in other programs.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have a 2.0 high school GPA or above to be admissible. If the applicant has taken undergraduate coursework the cumulative GPA of the undergraduate coursework must be a 2.0 or higher to be admissible.
