Through continued development of performance skills and overall musicianship as well as research and writing skills, the Master of Arts degree is designed to prepare the graduate for a career in teaching or as preparation for doctoral study. A Bachelor’s degree in music is the prerequisite necessary to pursue a Master of Arts degree.
This degree is designed to prepare a student to pursue a career in college teaching or to enter a Ph.D. Program in musicology or ethnomusicology. Opportunities are provided for professional development and exploration of new approaches to music research.

A completed baccalaureate degree in music, or the equivalent, at an accredited institution of higher education by the time of matriculation.
A grade point average of B (3.0) or better in the last 60 hours of undergraduate program.
Non-native English speakers must score 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL or 6.5 on the Academic IELTS, PTE score of 59 and Cambridge C1 Advanced score of 180
