Curtin University started operating in Malaysia functioning out of a temporary campus in 1999. In 2002 the modern 300-acre campus began functioning out of the suburb of Senadin in Sarawak. The state-of-the-art campus welcomes students from all around the world and offers a wide variety of programmes in subjects as diverse as Computing, Chemical Engineering, Renewable Energy and Geophysics. There are 14 computer laboratories for students to use and students of Film and Television programmes have dedicated studios. Curtin Sarawak brings a slice of Australia to Malaysia.
