Other eligibility requirements

The main purpose of the Award is to support talented students to study underrepresented instruments such as organ and early keyboard in the School of Music at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.

  • One Award may be made annually for a period of up to one year, up to a total value of NZ $8,000.
  • To be eligible for Award consideration, an applicant must be i) enrolled, or enrolling, in a Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music conjoint degree, a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree, a Postgraduate Diploma in Music, Master of Music or Doctor of Musical Arts or PhD with a creative practice component in the School of Music at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, in organ and/or early keyboard, in the following year.
  • The Award is tenable by international students

Selection basis

Students are shortlisted based on their

  • Music excellence

Selection criteria

  • The basis of selection will be an examination in Performance, and the applicant’s proposed study plans as assessed by a personal statement. The time allowed for examination will not normally exceed twenty minutes.
  • The Award will be made by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Head of the School of Music (or nominee); an academic staff member nominated by the Head of School; and a representative of the donor
