The scholarship supports old boys of Timaru Boys’ High School at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

Tenure: Normally, the scholarship is tenable for three years. Recipients may apply, through the University of Canterbury Foundation, for an extension of one year for completion of a four-year undergraduate degree programme

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a programme for an undergraduate degree at the University

Special Requirements: Applicants must be either current pupils of Timaru Boys’ High School, or past pupils of Timaru Boys’ High School on a gap year. The scholarship is tenable by students who were enrolled at Timaru Boys’ High School for at least three years.

Selection basis

Students are shortlisted based on their

  • Academic excellence
  • Financial need/hardship

Selection criteria

In making the recommendation, the selection committee gives equal consideration to the following: a. Academic achievement b. Potential contribution to Aotearoa New Zealand, as evidenced by: i. qualities such as initiative and leadership; and ii. sporting, cultural, and/or community activities c. Financial need

If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship is offered.
