Other eligibility requirements

As long as you hold a Batchelor's or higher degree from Durham University and apply for a course that begins within the 2025-26, you are automatically eligible for this Scholarship - you do not need to apply separately. Those holding CHE/DHE or postgraduate/CPD credits only will unfortunately not be eligible to receive the Scholarship. Your must be self-funding (or majority self-funding) in order to receive this scholarship. The value of the contribution to your fees must exceed the value of this proposed scholarship. For example: if your fee is £10,000 and you have a 10% Alumni Fee Discount you must intend to make a personal contribution of £1,001 in order to receive the scholarship, excluding any other third-party support of fee sponsorship. Any repayable loans used towards fees would count as self-funding. Those who have outstanding financial debt to the University will not be eligible until the debt has been cleared. For the purposes of both schemes, alumni are defined as those who have been awarded a degree qualification by Durham University, and who studied at Durham University (i.e. not a degree conferred by the University for study at another institution, for example Common Awards at another institution). A student in receipt of government loans for study is considered self-funding. The scheme do not apply to students who are not majority self-funding.
