LAHP funds up to 90 PhD studentships each year at these HEIs in subjects across the Arts & Humanities. 10 per cent of these studentships are Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDAs) with a cultural or other external partner. There are separate competitions for CDA and open studentships.
The studentship includes an annual stipend at the Research Council UK Home (£21,237) plus fees for three years full-time study. LAHP also welcomes applications for part-time study. CDAs are funded for three and a half years and include an annual stipend top-up of £550.
Studentships are tenable for three years and they cover full fees (for international students, LSE will cover the difference between UK and overseas fees) and an annual stipend, which for 2024 entry is £21,237. LSE will also cover full fees and stipend for an additional fourth year.
LSE Departments that typically host AHRC studentships are International History, Media and Communications, Philosophy and Law, but students from other disciplines (for example, Anthropology, Gender Studies and International Development), can also apply if their research falls within the remit of AHRC.
